Kavos is one of the top five tourist destinations for the young English boys and girls wanting to have FUN in the summer. Recently, the tabloid press in England gave a lot of emphasis on the wild sexual games taking place not only in Kavos but all over the hottest youth resorts in Greece. These publications were echoed in the Greek press and media with the result of Kavos being presented as the modern version of Sodoma and Gomorra where everything is allowed especially in the sexual aspect. This situation was built up during the 80’s when the biggest tour operators, then all mainly British, were starting to land in Corfu. They were interested to create a fully controlled environment on accommodation and prices so as to channel and market their respective British clientele more easily. Soon places like Kavos, Benitses and Sidari were modeled for young wild customers with hundreds of discos, bars, clubs and swimming pools. Cavos is the star in the ‘Club 18-30’ tour operator sales, the leader among a handful of specialized British tour operators.
